Sprint Forums Censorship
filed in forums on Aug.30, 2008
Several posts on the Buzz About Wireless forum talk of Sprint censoring posts and threads. I have personally seen only one thread completely erased (the guy was ranting about class action lawsuits and Attorney Generals, etc), and I have seen several threads “closed” and/or moved by the admins. On the Sprint developer forums I have seen an instance of Sprint censoring a whole thread that apparently touched on an area that Sprint did not want exposed.
Both the forums are sponsored/run by Sprint, so “cleaning up” the forums is their right I guess. Speaking of rights, do your 1st amendent rights apply to the Sprint forums? or the internet in general?

Good commentary. In terms of censorship of Sprint forums, the person who sponsors/runs the site has the right to edit sensitive or questionable material. When it comes to public domain, however, then such censorship could look like the policing of information. Sprint does have the right to protect its intellectual property and that of others (i.e. pirated content), and such rights are also protected by law.
